WHITE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST PRESENTS
COMMUNITY TRAIL DAYS
Come and celebrate your National Forests by volunteering! The White Mountain National Forest has created Community Trail Days as a part of the coordinated New Hampshire effort celebrating the Weeks Act Centennial and honoring the tradition of conservation and partnerships exemplified by the act, which created Eastern National Forests.
Based in Conway, NH, the Saco Ranger District has set aside Thursdays in June, July, and August as Community Trail Days. These days begin at the Ranger Station located at 33 Kancamagus Hwy at 9:00 am. The day will consist of basic trail maintenance-but no worries, no experience is required! We’ll train you on the spot. Crews will clip brush, dig ditches, and clear debris from trails in Evan’s Notch, Wild River area, Presidential-Dry River & Sandwich Range Wildernesses. Volunteers will return to the Ranger Station by 3:00 pm.
What will you need? You’ll need a day pack with water and lunch, rain gear, extra layers, work gloves, long pants, sturdy boots (hiking are best), eye protection (if you have it). Everyone is welcome! Minors will need a parent/guardian signature. We ask that groups larger than six provide advance notice so we can be prepared and accommodate you.
Community Trail Days provide an opportunity to give back to the trails you use and love, meet other motivated citizens, and learn more about conservation history. You’ll get a free T-Shirt when you work with us on a Community Trail Day. Work more than 16 hours with us this summer and earn a free Annual Recreation Pass!
For more information, please call the Saco Ranger Station at (603) 447-5448. Ask us about our Adopt-A-Trail Program and other volunteer opportunities too!
USDA Forest Service is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
